Founded in 1977, Mission has established
an enviable reputation for designing and manufacturing quality loudspeakers.
In 1978 Mission launched the revolutionary 770 loudspeaker, the first
audiophile speaker to use a polypropylene drive unit. Since then Mission
has continually introduced new technology and radical manufacturing
techniques, both of which have played a key part in Mission’s
success. Breaking through technological barriers can only come about
by continued investment in human and engineering resources. Mission’s
headquarters in Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire, feature the latest in
production and computing technology to help maintain its position
at the forefront of the home entertainment industry.
The inspiration for the products in the Mission PRO range comes from a requirement by Architectural Acousticians and Installers for loudspeakers to suit clients who want more than the obligatory black box solutions. Mission PRO products offer that difference, not only in the aesthetic design but also in radical acoustic solutions to the problems of sound diffusion under ‘difficult’ conditions. Mission calls this SRI (Sound Reinforcement Integration). Mission’s SRI based products reproduce music and speech with fidelity and intelligibility no matter what environment you put them in. The basis of this new acoustic approach was the development of SurfaceSoundT technology, which led to considerable success in the home entertainment market with the fs2 AV and fs1 AV home theatre systems. The ultra-wide dispersion characteristics and small footprint of SurfaceSound technology was utilised to provide discreet speakers that immerse the listener in a coherent sound-field, putting them right in the middle of the movie action. Drawing from this development, the fs2 PRO was the first product developed for the professional install market. From extensive market research Mission defined many important aspects that make this product unique. For example the mounting bracket allows initial placement and wiring to be undertaken at a pre-decorating stage, the speaker only being added during the final commissioning. The flexibility and acoustic performance of fs2 PRO, with its passive, 70v and 100v line variants and matching fs4 P Bass Support Unit, have already proved a big hit with installers. Mission’s brief for the PRO range is simple – ‘To design and manufacture highly aesthetic, technology driven products that offer advanced acoustic performance’. Our increasing portfolio of products follows this dictum to accommodate the areas of the professional market where looks are as important as sound. |
